Risk Aversion impressive again!

The most impressive performance on the weekend in my mind was the run of Risk Aversion in Brisbane. When we last caught up with Michael Lakey he told us that she was very smart and that she was worth following, he wasn’t wrong! I hope the members took note as she has won her next two and looks to be improving with each run.

She went back on Saturday and got to the tail of the field in what looked an almost impossible task to reel in the leaders, but she stretched out, put her head down and made up many lengths to get up on the line and beat a good field of older horses, including a few good males. It was a good effort first up when stepping up in grade, but it was even more impressive on the weekend.

Her trainer Michael Lakey has done a super job with her and it sounded like he had a spring in his step when I caught up with him today. “Really impressive, she has pulled up good. Going into it you are wondering with some old war horses in that race. Her wins going into it have been good, it was just taking on the boys and jumping in grades (that was the question).” Lakey said.

I have followed her closely and felt she would be even better over a longer distance, so I thought it would be worth asking Michael if he agreed and to see what he planned for her next. “Definitely, if you look at her she probably looks that way too, probably ready for 1400m-1600m now too. Three weeks from that race there is a fillies and mares quality over 1350m at Doomben, and we will just see how she pulls up after each run.”

One thing is for sure, wherever the daughter of Encosta De Lago goes she will be very competitive and in my mind her best is still to come. All the credit should go to Michael as he has been patient with her and placed her in good races which is hard when you are jumping in grades. Like most racing enthusiast, I can’t wait to see her step out again!

**We also have two blackbookers running Wednesday:

Brisbane Race 7 No 1 VINTAGE BLACK

Melbourne Race 5 No 10 STATE GRADE.

Both look really good chances. State Grade is up against Studley Park so may be e/w odds. Vintage Black has opened up $3 fixed on tattsbet which is a fair price.
